Rebite in Porto.
Almada Street 573
Rebite was created to honor the history of Rua do Almada, the emblematic hardware street of Porto. Here, nostalgia meets beer, wines, traditional Portuguese snacks, well-being and good times, in a space designed to celebrate tradition and create new memories.
Our story
Almada Street, opened in 1761, stood out as the first major thoroughfare built outside the Fernandine Walls. Designed to follow the old Roman road that connected Porto to Braga, it marked the beginning of the city's expansion and modernization.
Oasis of solutions: During the 19th and 20th centuries, it became known as "Rua das Ferragens" (Hardware Street), concentrating numerous hardware stores, locksmiths, tool shops, locksmiths, and construction material suppliers. It was the go-to place for those seeking parts and tools for domestic and industrial repairs. The hardware stores on Rua do Almada became legendary for their vast specialization and for functioning as a "network." The spirit of mutual help among the merchants was so great that, if one store didn't have the exact part, the owners would tell customers where they could find it in another neighboring establishment.
It is precisely this historical identity that REBITE intends to honor and immortalize, preserving the memory of a street that marked generations of merchants and residents of Porto.
